I hope this Matters

Perhaps Dark Matter and Matter (visible matter) were both separate super massive singularities (if not objects of matter, perhaps they were super massive forms of energy that moved in a higher dimension of space). The higher dimension of space they occupied is perhaps Dark Energy.

Perhaps two singularities of matter collided with one another in a cloud of Dark Matter. This collision could of happened in a higher realm of space where the two singularities would have existed. The Cloud of Dark Matter could have been the result of two singularities of Dark Matter that collided with one another prior to the collision of the two singularities of matter. This would explain the distribution of both Dark Matter and Matter throughout the universe.
