MODERNITY AND THE MASSES

"A false sense of reality projects illusions of security. The Minds of the masses are clandestinely steered toward the mundane, irrelevant and superficial. Dumfounded and enchanted by these sideshows, the minds of the populace are tranquilized; and their heart's reserves of nonconformity are pacified.

In the peripheral of the masses' obscured vision, the shadow of darkness becomes more pervasive around the well lit screens that captivates and anesthetizes them. The world grows darker as they drool over marked down prices of their favorite commodities. The rich grow richer as they stampede into gargantuan buildings stocked and shelved with a seemingly endless supply of sedatives and Novocain.

Force-fed what appears to be insipid and distasteful news, the masses inadvertently and unknowingly regurgitate control commands. Blind and controlled, the masses are led astray. Their perception of the world around them has been fashioned by racist, bigoted, imperialistic plutocrats and oligarchs.

Political campaigns resemble circus acts accompanied by clowns and carnival barkers. Promises of representation dissolve in the seas of political corruption.

There appears to be no hope for the masses. For they are too consumed with their consumption, too blinded by their selfishness, preoccupied with their quest for financial success, and too allured by the carrot that whimsically dangles in front of them."-CLS1
